This private residence is appropriate for its Atherton neighborhood. The home belongs to a busy family of seven. Prior to the remodel, it was a lack luster ranch house and the homeowner wanted a friendly, welcoming, charming home big enough for the whole family. The interiors create a dialogue between antiques and a more updated and crisp architectural back drop. There was much discussion of the color for the exterior shingles until we settled on a soft cloud white, sending the same antique but crisp modern message. The home is relatable, sensible and reflects the home owners style, wishes and requirements.

During Construction

The complex, yet simple white shingled rear of the house reflects timeless architecture. This general face lift makes the home appear as a classic older home. A new second floor was added, as well as an extension of the master bedroom.

The homeowners were very involved in the revitalization of their ranch home. A new personality and a wish to accommodate the family’s busy life style were the priorities.

Our intention was to touch on the nostalgia of gracious older homes and balance that with a freshness. The design evokes both, and the end result is a charming, friendly, welcoming and useful family home.

The custom cabinetry in the new master bedroom hall reflects the home owners personality and personal style.

The master bath is a balance of formal and classic details and modern needs.
